What is it that distinguishes the Mission of Don Bosco?

Beginning at Rupertswood in 1998, I experienced a great sense of welcome as soon as I entered the place. The school felt very different and unique in many ways. It had a certain spirit that intrigued me and I wanted to discover for myself why this place felt the way it did.

Meeting the staff was great and I found both the teaching and non-teaching staff very supportive and keen to help me settle in. I quickly had a real sense that they were very pastoral in their attitude and approach to each other and to their students. This was very clearly articulated and led by the Salesians, as well as many of the experienced staff members, and this really impressed me. There was a real atmosphere of respecting the history and tradition of the school and I would hear staff members say with genuine pride that 'this is how we do things at Salesian College'. I really appreciated the staff's guidance and I felt I had a great example to follow. There was also a tangible element of fun, camaraderie and joy around the place.
